  • I was pretty busy today, but i did listen to the 4th quarter. It sounded like the Dolphins were the team that got it done when the game was on the line. They stunk just a little less than the Titans. The Titans don't seem to have any offense without Mariotta.

  • Granted, it was not our best, but in 115 degree field temp, I was impressed anyone was playing.

However, in the first half we made a 49 or 59 yard touch down called back for a VERY questionable pass interference call. All (I mean ALL) of the broadcasters were critical of it.

Within the same set of downs they called a fumble and resulting touchdown on a call that took about a minute to call AFTER the play and AGAIN the broadcasters were taken back with the call! The referees claimed that the quarterback fumbled instead of an incomplete forward pass.

He hand was going forward, no one else touched the ball and yet somehow they said the ball went forward about 15 yards from the hit, which came from the front/side. The broadcasters did not agree.

So they took away 6 points on the questionable if non-existent pass interference and gave 6 points with a TERRIBLE call on an incomplete forward pass.

  • I have always told my players that the officials are part of the field. There is not any game where you can take a play (especially early in a game) and extrapolate an outcome as if everything else would have happened the same way.I just looked at the 4th quarter, where the score started even, making it a 15 minute game. And Miami came up with the only drive. The box score says that both offenses were pretty anemic.

  • Both offenses were definitely anemic but since they are humans playing we have also seen where certain plays can energize or de-energize thanks e moral of the team.

In 115 degree temps it would not take much, but these two referee calls, back to back had to be (and I believe we're) game changers.

Miami OWES that referee group. If you get a chance, watch the replays. They never showed a good picture of the pass interference but from what I could see and the commentators comments it was an egregious call.

  • Yeah, I keep hearing that 14 point swing line. But, if the first call is changed, every play in the game from that point onward is different... and the second call never occurs. You might want to see one changed, or the other, but both is not possible. The game was theirs to win or lose in the 4th quarter, and they lost. If it was because they were depressed over a call that happened over 2 hours earlier, they are not mentally tough enough to win. My team lost Saturday, and the other team's last two scoring drives were kept alive by what i thought were weak penalties (of course i thought that, it is my team!). But they had other chances to make a stop, and they did not do it.

  • Yeah Steve, that was bad. Both offenses were not playing well and Miami scoring a defensive touchdown (thanks to the refs) was a huge blow...

  • Thanks for the comment espoontoon. I was afraid no one else who had seen the calls was reading.

    Did your figs ever ripen?
