Public Notice The Bedford County Board of Education will meet in a special called session at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020 in the central office building board room located at 500 Madison Street, Shelbyville. The purpose of the special called session is to 1. Approve the Superintendent Search Criteria and 2. Approve a Superintendent Search Timeline. All meetings of the Board are open to the public. PUBLIC NOTICE The Bedford County Board of Education will be employing a new Superintendent of Schools. A key part of this process is to provide everyone an opportunity to be heard. Dr. Tammy Grissom, Executive Director of the Tennessee School Boards Association will lead several meetings designed to determine views about the issues and challenges facing our school system and Superintendent of Schools. To provide everyone an opportunity to be heard, five meetings have been scheduled at the Blue Ribbon Circle (1110 N. Evans St., Shelbyville) on November 5, 2020 as follows: Noon Mayors, Commission, City Council, Officicials, Community/Business Leaders & School Board 2:00 p.m. Classified Staff (Secretaries, Paraprofessionals, Cafeteria Staff, Maintenance, Custodial, Etc.) 3:00 p.m. Central Office Staff, Supervisors and Principals 4:00 p.m. Teachers 6:00 p.m. Community Forum to include Bus Drivers & Other Staff who could not attend an earlier meeting If you are unable or do not wish to attend a meeting, a link will be provided on the school system website (bedfordk12tn.com) to a TSBA survey that will allow you to provide input on the superintendent search. We urge everyone to take the time to let us know what leadership skills will be needed to effectively serve Bedford County students. Your comments will help us determine the criteria to be used in selecting our new Superintendent of Schools. The selection of our next Superintendent of Schools is very important to us all and we look forward to your assistance with this decision. Masks are not required, but are encouraged and will be made available for attendees who would like one. Social distancing is also encouraged. PUBLIC NOTICE The Bedford County Planning Commission On October 6, 2020, has unanimously recommended the rezoning of a portion of property (8.83 Acres +/-) located at Highway 231 North, Shelbyville, TN, tax map 050, parcel 019.00, from present zoning classification A-1 to proposed zoning classification C-1. On October 20, 2020 the Bedford County Rules and Legislative committee unanimously recommended the zoning request be voted on by the Bedford County Commission. The Bedford County Planning Commission On October 6, 2020, has made an unfavorable recommendation against rezoning a portion of property (2.64 Acres +/-) located at 2164 Highway 82 South, Shelbyville, TN, tax map 129, parcel 013.00, from present zoning classification A-1 to proposed zoning classification C-1. On October 20, 2020 the Bedford County Rules and Legislative committee passed without recommendation the zoning request be voted on by the Bedford County Commission. The public hearings will occur immediately before the Bedford County Commission meeting which will begin at 7:00 p.m. on November 10, 2020. The public hearings and commission meeting will be held at the Bedford County historic courthouse in the second-floor courtroom.
