School kids learn about electricity from DREMC
Third graders from Cascade Elementary School and sixth graders from Harris Middle School recently learned about the basic of electricity with Duck River Electric Membership Corp.ís Experiments with Electricity program. The program offers hands-on learning with six-volt batteries, copper wire and six-volt light bulbs. The basic electric circuit is used to demonstrate open and closed circuits, what materials test as insulators and conductors and how electric switches work. About 105 students at Cascade and about 370 at Harris learned how electricity is made, how it travels through circuits and other electrical applications, including a few safety lessons along the way.
