Chili is always in season

Last weekend’s International Chili Society-sanctioned chili cookoffs — The Tennessee State Championship on Friday night, and the Southeastern Regional on Saturday — drew about 40 competitors, the most ever, from all across the U.S. On Friday night, Mary Cannon won in the Homestyle division; Veni Miller won the Tradtional Red Chili division; Sara Anderson won for best salsa; and Mack Walker won for Chili Verde (green chili). On Saturday, Rena Jones took first place in Homestyle, while Anderson won Traditional Red, Jim Stoddard won Salsa and Kelly Walker won Chili Verde.
