Lions close in on a century of service

Shelbyville Lions Club celebrated its years of service by having a coffee at the Chamber of Commerce building on June 29. The club has been an active part of the community for 95 years, providing vision screening for children from day care to the fourth grade for many years, as well as purchasing eye exams and glasses for those unable to do so themselves. The club was also one of the founders of the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration, along with Shelbyville Rotary Club, and is responsible for the Celebrationís programs. The club holds its annual Charles Grissom Memorial Golf Tournament each June at River Bend Country Club. The club meets the first and third Thursdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. at H.V.
