Volunteer Garden Club holds spring luncheon

Volunteer Garden Club held its Spring Awards Luncheon at the Riverbend Country Club with Edna Burke presiding. Ann Spencer presented awards to Design Winner Carolyn Baker, Horticulture Winner Virginia Ann Haynes and Nomenclature winner Jane Bartlette. District Director June Gilmore awarded a Life Membership in the Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs to Florence Hall. Luncheon speaker State Sen. Jim Tracy was introduced by Suzanne Bobo. His program highlighted important legislation that is pending before the Tennessee General Assembly. The club will meet April 4 at the Bedford County Farm Bureau building. Kathy Crownover of Winchester will present a program on Bromeliads (airplants). The theme "April Showers" will be eligible for the Tri Color Award. The horticulture theme will be Iris, the devotional will be by Faye Womble, and the judging will be by Pat Hastings. Bonnie Wright and Maureen Garrett will serve as hostesses.
