The 2021 Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival, in its 90th year, has chosen a new queen. She is Abigail Canter of Western Kentucky University and Shelbyville.
A second-year Spirit Master as one of the university's official student ambassadors, Canter is majoring in corporate and organizational communication and minoring in psychological sciences.
She is the daughter of Keith and Shannon Canter of Shelbyville. The family notes this was an honor for Abi to be crowned queen of this prestigious festival in Kentucky.
A senior at WKU, Abi is also involved with her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and serves as the current chapter president. She serves as a volunteer and den counselor at the Center for Courageous Kids, the Midnight on the Hill Executive Board, and is very involved with Christian Student Fellowship.
