This is a letter from Dawn Rhodes, Bedford County Cancer Society Manager.
I’d like to provide you with a timely update.
Throughout this year, especially in the pandemic, the American Cancer Society has had to make tough decisions in light of a lower than expected, and needed, fundraising year. In May, we faced staff reductions in addition to many real estate changes across the nation, including the office closures across southern and central Illinois. Unfortunately, the difficult decisions had to continue, most recently with the decisions to eliminate more staff positions, my final day with ACS will be Friday, December 4th. While I don’t have all the answers on the next steps for this event, please trust that we will communicate those as soon as possible. Until then, I will be here to help you with anything you still may need from ACS and my manager, Audrey Williams (audrey.williams@cancer.org) will be the interim staff after Friday.
There are not enough words to express my gratitude for each and every one of you. Thank you for letting me in to your life. Thank you for tackling cancer with me and creating so many memories along the way. I know we have made a huge difference in the fight against cancer, and I know we are not done. While I’m incredibly sad that my time is coming to an end, I have so much faith that a new opportunity is on the horizon. If you have any questions at all, please let me know. Thank you for everything.
