NORMANDY – R. M. Riggins and E. W. Brandon went to Manchester Saturday to inspect some land. They intend buying if they find any that suits them.
REAL ESTATE – S. E. Tillman and wife to D. B. Stewart, 100 acres in 7th District. Mary C. Tillman to D. B. Stewart, 200 acres in 7th District.
SHELBYVILLE – Mrs. Mollie Moore and children are visiting Mr. Sam McGee and family near Cortner’s Station.
STEELE’S CAMP GROUND – W. A. Landers and wife passed through the village last Saturday, on the way to celebrate his father-in-law’s 83rd birthday.
FIFTH DISTRICT – W. A. Jordan had four head of horses hit by lightning on last Friday morning. Eleven head of stock were standing under one tree. A shock of wheat standing in Mr. Epps’ field nearby was struck.
GREEN HILL – Mr. George Williams, who has been ordained as a preacher by the Missionary Baptists, expects to attend school at Fall Creek Academy.
WARTRACE – Miss Lizzie Cleveland returned home Sunday after visiting friends and relatives in the south. She was accompanied home by her sister, Miss Hattie, who graduated at Shorter a few weeks ago.

REAL ESTATE – Mary Frances Gosnell and husband and others to Peggy Ann Roberts and husband, property in 24th District.
NEW HERMON – Mrs. Glen Brown of Shelbyville spent Friday with her mother, Mrs. A. J. Monette.
WHEEL – The farm of Jack Montgomery near Wheel community received first place in the green pastures contest which was judged here Tuesday. Second winner was Virgil Hastings of Harts Chapel. Sam Stanfield, Agent.
AT THE PRINCESS – Now showing, “Ma and Pa Kettle at the Fair” with Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride.
SOLD – Caleb M. Thompson Monday confirmed the report that he has sold an interest in his funeral business to J. O. Cochron of Gallatin, an experienced funeral director. Cochron has rented the house of George “Shorty” Townes in Shelby Pines here. Mr. Cochron plans to move here about August 1 with his wife and 5-year-old daughter.
SINGLETON – Donald Shelton spent last week in Fayetteville with his grandmother, Mrs. John Shelton.
SHELBYVILLE – Wrestling on Friday, July 4th at the Sports Arena – next to Rich’s Roller Rink on Cannon Boulevard, across the river.

AT THE CAPRI – “Outlaw Blues” with Peter Fonda.
SHELBYVILLE – Clarence Sudberry, Sandusky Street, picked a corn stalk which had tasseled and then grown another cob on top of the stalk. Sudberry said that it was Hickory Cane Corn that he had helped grow in a friend’s garden.
BUTLER’S CREEK – Stephen and Stephanie Young of Mobile, Alabama, are guests of their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Young, on Wartrace Road.
LIGHTING THE SQUARE – Lanterns lit the east side of the Public Square. Such fixtures will provide lighting all around the square when the downtown renovation project is completed.
REAL ESTATE – James Harlan King to Lytle Landers. Albert Moulder to William A. Kingree.
BUTLER’S CREEK – Dewey Arnold opened the Horse Show in Lewisburg riding White Lightning, bearing the flag.
