EAGLEVILLE — The Community Vikings stayed close to the Eagleville Eagles for three innings, but the Vikings had trouble getting three outs in the fourth inning as the Eagles used 13 runs to gain control and blank the Vikings 16-0 in a baseball contest Saturday afternoon.
After the Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Ryan Sharp of the Vikings doubled to put the tying run in scoring position to lead off the top of the third. But Community could not plate a run as an Eagle double play stifled the rally.
Eagleville scored two runs in the bottom of the third, and then brought 19 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth as the Eagles used six hits, seven walks, and three hit batsmen to score 13 runs and put the game out of reach.
Andrew Stacy had two singles to lead the Vikings at the plate.
