LYNCHBURG — The Cascade Champions wrestling squad continued their strong start to the season with a tri-match sweep at Moore County High School on Tuesday night against the hosts and Lawrence County High School.
Cascade defeated the Raiders with a score of 60-5 and the Wildcats 54-12.
Against the Raiders, only first-year wrestler Christian Casey competed on the mat for the Champions with the other 13 matches being decided by forfeit.
Casey was defeated by technical fall in two minutes and 57 seconds with a score of 16-0.
There was more action in their duels with the Wildcats with four Champions getting time on the mat.
Tyler Haddock and Isaac Chapa were the only Champions to secure victories not by forfeit in the tri-match with wins via pin in a minute and 17 seconds and a minute and nine seconds respectively.
The only other Champions to compete were Bryson Redd and Nicholas Lineberger who were both pinned by their Wildcat opponents.
With the sweep, Cascade improved to 8-2 on the season.
