BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – The Cascade Champions completed the season sweep against the Murfreesboro Central Magnet Tigers in blowout fashion, 59-23, at The Stable on Friday night.
Cascade combined to beat the Tigers by 61 points over the two games, and they held Central Magnet to just 25% shooting from the field overall with just two made three-pointers.
Kaleb Kelso led the way with a game-high 24 points, including 15 in the second half, just missing on one of his 11 total field goal attempts, and he connected on all four of his three-point attempts in an incredibly efficient display of scoring. He was the only Champion to finish in double-figures, but Henry Stone, Tyler Rodgers, and Noah Watson all chipped in with eight points, seven points, and seven points, respectively. Stone finished with three steals and seven rebounds, six of which were on the offensive end.
For Central Magnet, Hollis Jackson was the team’s high scorer with just six points as the Tigers turned the ball over 19 times to go along with the rough shooting night. Owen King also chipped in with five points of his own.
Early on, things looked sloppy and sluggish on the offensive end for Cascade, taking a measly four-point lead, 8-4, into the second quarter. The Champions shook off some of the rust in the second period, outscoring Central Magnet, 13-3, to take a 21-7 lead into the halftime locker room.
Coming out of halftime, Cascade seemed to wake up and find their groove, outscoring the Tigers, 28-7, to take a 49-14 lead into the final frame.
In the fourth quarter, the final result was merely a formality as Cascade was able to empty the bench early on in the 36-point victory, 59-23.
The Champions improve to 8-6 and are set to begin all-important District 9-AA play on Tuesday night at home against the Cannon County Lions, LIVE on The Zinger 100.9 starting at 5:45 p.m.
