Denise Michelle Reed Darnell, 58, was born September 9, 1961, in Shelbyville and passed from this life February 4, 2020, at her home in Wheel surrounded by her loved ones after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday, February 7, 2020, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Jon Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Wheel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020, and again on Friday starting at 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Denise was the daughter of Rhonda Russell Reed and the late Leighton Reed. She was a graduate of Shelbyville Central High School class of 1979. She worked for over 40 years as a pre-school teacher for Reed’s Love and Care and was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She loved her family, from getting her daughters ready for the day to cheering above the crowd at their sporting events. She enjoyed looking her best when going anywhere, and tanning by the pool.
She is survived by: loving husband of 36 years, Steve Darnell of Wheel; daughters, Kally Darnell (Josh) Watts of Christiana, and Katey Darnell of Wheel; sisters, LaTresa (Pat) Barton of Shelbyville, and Kim (Jimmy) Shreve of Flat Creek; brother, Kevin Reed of Murfreesboro; granddaughters, Hadley Gray Watts and Ava Watts; also many nieces and nephews.
