Private family only funeral services for Dorothy Jean Waters Arwood will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Gowen-Smith with Brother Ronnie Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.
The immediate family will gather at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 11:00 am until the time of service. Masks must be worn and social distancing will be practiced as much as possible.
Ms. Arwood passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Vanderbilt hospital in Nashville.
Dorothy was born on Saturday, October 14, 1944 in Shelbyville, Tennessee to Clyde Waters and Rosie Bell Stacy Waters, and they preceded her in death. She was a high school graduate and was retired from Jostens in Shelbyville.
Her survivors include her longtime partner and love: Billy Clanton of Shelbyville, one daughter: Dawna Ashley and her husband: James of Shelbyville, three siblings: Debbie Baron (Marty) of Valrico, Florida, Gary Waters (Annette Stacy) of Murfreesboro, and Lisa Riddle (Scott) of Danville, Kentucky. Ms. Arwood is also survived by three grandchildren: and seven great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by one son: Tommy Arwood in 2010 and one brother, Ronnie Waters in 2020.
Gowen-Smith Chapel in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
