A Murfreesboro man was killed in a traffic accident in northern Shelbyville early Sunday.

The victim was identified as Belizario Lopez Cruz, according to the Shelbyville Police Department.

A Murfreesboro man lost his life early Sunday when his vehicle overturned after hitting the rocky area under Highway 437 Bypass.

A Murfreesboro man was killed in a traffic accident in northern Shelbyville early Sunday.

The victim was identified as Belizario Lopez Cruz, according to the Shelbyville Police Department.

Investigators think Lopez may have fallen asleep behind the wheel.

Lopez’s vehicle struck rocks on U.S. 231 North under Highway 437 Bypass and overturned, police said. The vehicle overturned and Lopez was partially ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash was reported at approximately 1:30 a.m.
