Shelbyville Central advanced to the District 6 3-A tournament championship game after claiming a 4-0 shutout over visiting Warren County on Tuesday night.
The Golden Eagles (9-7-0) hosts Coffee County in the title game on Thursday evening at 7.
Coffee County defeated Franklin County in Tuesday to advance.
"Winning this match was a big team effort with many of our younger guys getting significant playtime. Our JV has had a great season and it was great to see those guys get on the field in a varsity match and implement some of our ideas," Shelbyville Central coach Chris Fritz said.
The Eagles' first goal game off an Edgar Solis penalty conversion early in the first half.
Solis scored another goal after being slipped in behind by Daniel Juarez a few minutes later.
Brian Contreras scored the third goal on a series of combination plays and an
outside the boot flick past the keeper to put the Eagles up 3-0 at the
intermission.
Yaden Nimo found the back of the net for the only goal scored in the second half.
"After the half, we began making major changes to the lineup to keep some banged up guys fresh. They had a few moments with the younger guys on the field, but we kept our composure," Fritz said.
"We look forward to hosting Coffee County this Thursday in what should be very intense district championship match at home."
