Shelbyville Central claimed an impressive 2-1 win over visiting Franklin County in district play on Tuesday evening.
“We played well for our first district game of the season against Franklin County. We came out a little flat at the beginning and held the ball too long in the back,” Shelbyville Central coach Chris Fritz said.
Franklin took an early lead from a passing mistake and a counter.
The Eagles responded with a goal off the foot of Oscar Ramirez.
“In the second half, we opened up our shooting and found more spaces to attack. Our frontline really stepped up to keep the ball on the Franklin County end,” Fritz said.
After some nice combination play, Yahir Cervantes found the back of the net for the game-winner.
"Franklin County is a well-coached and disciplined team, so it’s always nice to start out the district path off with a win."
