Eagles outlast Tullahoma

Shelbyville Central's Golden Eagle basketball team turned in their best performance of the season thus far with an impressive 58-53 win at home on Tuesday night.
The Eagles posted leads of 21-9 at the end of the first quarter, 31-19 at the intermission and 39-35b going into the fourth quarter.
Tullahoma took a three-point lead midway through the fourth stanza but Shelbyville Central's Joe Harris nailed back to-back three pointers late in the game to put the Eagles back on top for good.
"I am really proud of our guys. We didn't play up to expectations Monday night, but I told them we just have to watch the film and learn from it. We watched about an hour of film today, and every single player was talking about their mistakes and how to fix it. That's when I knew success was closing in. I didn't necessarily know it'd translate this fast, but I never had a doubt that, at some point, we would right the ship," Shelbyville Central coach Kody Howard said. "Kudos to Tullahoma. They're a great team that battled to the end, and made us go earn that victory. Again, super proud of my guys, they deserve all of the credit for tonight's outcome."
The Eagles cashed in on 11 3-pointers with Kyler Trice leading the way with five for 15 points.
Terrence Johnson collected 14 points while Harris finished with a dozen points with four treys.
Deandre Jenkilin netted 16 with Khani Johnson contributing 14 to pace the Wildcats.
The Eagles (1-5) play at Siegel on Friday night at 7:30.
