Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eaglette soccer team remains unbeaten in District 8-AAA after playing visiting Franklin County to a 1-1 tie on Thursday night.
“We tied a tough Franklin County team tonight. They won the district championship last year and remain one of the toughest teams to beat,” Shelbyville Central coach Chris Fritz said.
“Our freshmen duo of Jocelyn Hayitin and Paige Blackburn continue to be a threat to other teams.”
Hayitin played a great reverse pass to Blackburn, who nailed a shot on the far post for the Eaglettes (3-3-1, 2-0-1) goal.
“Our backline with junior Ashleigh Pridmore and sophomore Jessica Velasquez at center back did a great job of denying them goals and shots in the run of play,” Fritz said.
“We will have a few days and a game on Saturday at Stewart’s Creek to get ready for another showdown with Franklin County away next Tuesday on the road.”
