Fairview FCE Club reports

Fairview Family and Community Education (FCE) Club met on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the UT/TSU Extension Office in Shelbyville. President Pat Hastings opened the meeting by having everyone do the suggested arm circles.

Extension Agent Whitney Danhof read the Call to Order “Picture of Peace.” Sandra Smith presented the devotion.

An educational lesson regarding on-line banking and shopping was presented by Mary Frances Gordon.

Eleven members responded to the roll call inquiry “A book you would recommend to others.” Minutes of the August meeting were approved as read by Betty Brown. Linda Lovell presented the Treasurer’s Report. Susie Armstrong gave the Sunshine Report.

Danhof reported that there would be a virtual retreat Nov. 9-11 in lieu of the FCE State Conference.

Hastings announced that after the adjournment of the meeting everyone would pack the socks and underwear members had brought to be taken to Learning Way Elementary School. There were so many articles that half of them were delivered to Community Elementary School.

Hastings closed the meeting by reading the adjournment. The next club meeting would be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Extension Office.

Fairview FCE Club met Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the UT/TSU Extension Office in Shelbyville.

President Pat Hastings presided and led the members in chest butterflies. She welcomed two visitors: Catherine Tally of the Town and Country Club, and Barbara Troxler of the Butler’s Creek Club.

Mary Frances Gordon read the call to order, and Sarah Hill gave the devotion, “Where Are You Looking?”

Whitney Danhof presented an educational lesson and gave each member a booklet, “The Cookie Jar.” Danhof asked each member to name her favorite cookie. The history of the “cookie” was included as well as science, ingredients, methods, types of cookies, and recipes.

Minutes of the September meeting were approved as read by Debbie Perryman. Roll was called with 11 members and guests answering with their favorite thing about autumn. Linda Lovell gave the treasurer’s report, and Susie Armstrong gave the sunshine report.

Danhof reported on an email message sent to all FCE members concerning registration for the virtual retreat on Zoom on Nov. 9-11. Members can pick and choose the sessions they wish to attend virtually, including crafts, interactive activities, exercises, and speakers. Members can also watch from the Extension Office. The first 300 to register will receive a prize.

Sandra Smith gave a club member demonstration of a Dresden plate baby quilt.

Pat Hastings read the adjournment. The next meeting of the club will be 10:30 A.M. Nov. 18, at the Extension Office.
