Fire breaks out at storage facility

Shelbyville firefighters battle a blaze at midday Monday at Shelbyville Self Storage, Bethany Lane. At one point the building was almost completely obscured by smoke.

T-G STAFF REPORT

A storage firm on Bethany Lane sustained heavy damage late Monday morning when fire broke out.

People in the area said they heard what sounded like an explosion and smoke immediately began pouring from one of several buildings comprising Shelbyville Self Storage.

No one was reported injured; a woman who occupied an apartment within the facility escaped safely.

The cause had not been determined as of midday Monday.
