First Choice Pregnancy Center, 1102 Madison St., recently hosted a groundbreaking event to commemorate a new addition to their building.
The addition will provide more space for their expanding “Baby Boutique,” which provides free materials to their clients, such as baby clothes, diapers, bottles, etc. The new addition will also provide additional room to meet with clients and to have an ADA accessible bathroom.
The project began two years ago when First Choice Director Angela Rasnick approached the board of directors and told them the center was “bursting at the seams.”
That was “pre-COVID” when clients physically went into the building. But Rasnick assures they are still growing.
“When we moved everything to online, that didn’t stop. We’ve remained bursting at the seam. A lot of it moved to online, but still the material needs were still great and even greater than before,” said Rasnick.
The project’s cost is around $154,000 and is planned to be completed in 90 days. The architect is Davis Stokes Collaborative, who’s been a strong part of the center for a long time, Rasnick said. Hawkins and Price will oversee the excavation.
“So, we got to the point where the board asked Angela, ‘what would be your dream?’ And then it led to a sketch, and then to today,” said Steven Flippo from Hawkins and Price.
“We just started praying about, strongly, and just asking God to provide. And He began to do that in a mighty way,” said Rasnick.
