Himesville Church of the Nazarene is 110 years old in ministry. Church members note that's something worth celebrating this spring.
With the theme, "Farmer's Day: Faith and Family," the church will do that on Sunday, May 2. The church is located at 1614 Highway 82 South, which is about 3 miles outside the Shelbyville city limits.
Outdoor morning worship will begin at 11 a.m. Hay bales will be provided or worshippers may opt to bring a lawn chair.
Displays, activities and food are planned.
The church plans to celebrate its agriculture heritage. Incidentally, farmland and cattle still surround the brick facade, so the backdrop is already complete; they just need the people.
Church members, neighbors and farmers of all genres are invited to bring their tillers, planters and other farm machinery to share. As well, church members advise for everyone to "share their livestock."
Better yet, they encourage those who can to ride their tractor, side-by-side or other recreational vehicle right to the church, to get in on the excitement.
Joshua Crowe is church pastor. Call 684-6920 for more church information.
