Jimmy Lee Taylor, age 72, of Shelbyville, passed from this life Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Vanderbilt-Bedford Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4th, at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Peter Allen officiating. Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. on Sunday. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. 

Jimmy was born June 26, 1950 in Russellville, Alabama, to the late William “Bill” and Mary Ozella Mears Taylor.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by: brother, Ray Taylor; and nephew, Troy Taylor, Jr.

Jimmy was retired from Empire Berol (Newell Rubbermaid) where he worked for 40+ years. He was a long-time member of the Celebration City Car Club. He loved NASCAR and was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan. He could be found driving back roads, on his lawn mower or golf cart. He loved the outdoors and thought everyone should be outside. And he could always be heard arguing (mostly playful) with those he loved the most and they will miss that immensely. 

Survivors include: loving wife of 32 years, Janice Ferrell Taylor of Shelbyville; children, Don (Elizabeth) Taylor, Randy (Shannon) Taylor, Sherri Green Frame, all of Shelbyville; Angie (Anthony) Smith of Lynchburg and Amanda Green Smith of Tullahoma; grandchildren, Cortney, Kendyl, Ashleigh, Brianna, Brooklyn, Shana, Jordan, Slayden, Maycee, and Madden; 6 grea- grandchildren with 2 on the way; brothers, Billy (Lillian) Taylor, Troy “Tiny” (Lana) Taylor, and Roy Taylor; along with several nieces and nephews.
