After a week of successes in the win column, the Cascade Lady Champions ran into a bit of a buzz saw, dropping two matches in a row to Culleoka and Lincoln County.

Not much went Cascade's way during Monday evening's non-district match against Lincoln County.

After an initial back and forth in the first set, Cascade appeared to be in control of the match until a late rally by the Lady Falcons saw the visitors score five straight points to claim the first set, 25-21.

Lincoln County took advantage of several Lady Champion miscues in the second set and took full control of the match with a 25-16 Set 2 victory.

While Cascade has shown resilience throughout the season, the Lady Falcons denied Cascade a comeback bid and finished off the match in the third set with a 25-21 victory.

Caroline McKamey led the Lady Champion offense with nine kills, two aces and five digs, while Hayden Jones added 14 assists and two digs and two kills.

Cascade will return home on Thursday and host Cascade in a key District 6-A showdown at 6 p.m.

After picking up their first district win in school history during the first meeting this season, Culleoka exacted a little revenge on Cascade on Friday, defeating the Lady Champs in five sets.

Culleoka appeared to put Cascade on its heels, picking up wins in the first two sets by scores of 25-23 and 25-14.

Facing elimination, Cascade responded in a big way, grinding out wins in the following two sets to force the fifth set tiebreaker.

In the third set, Cascade picked up the 25-20 win and followed with a 26-24 win.

While Culleoka eventually came up with the key points in the fifth set, the Lady Champs still grinded out to the final point was recorded and the Lady Warriors escaped with a 15-13 win.

Cascade saw a steady stream of offense from Caroline McKamey and Brianna Horn, who both recorded 15 kills.

Hayden Jones added three aces and 28 assists.
