Lady Feet dominate GCA

In the Lady Feet’s district matchup with the Grace Christian Academy, Webb just had too much firepower for the Lady Lions to match.
With a final score of 66-25, the Lady Feet improved to 12-6 on the year and 5-0 in district play.
The Lady Feet started out the contest on an 8-0 run before it was halted by a technical foul called on Webb.
Defensive pressure was the key to the offensive power for Webb who full-court pressed the Lady Lions for the entirety of the first half.
With a couple of 3-pointers from Bree Robinson and one from Summer Bostock, they jumped out to a 20-5 lead after the first frame.
Robinson and Bostock finished with eight and 17 points respectively.
Although pressure defense was a theme for Webb, head coach Matthew Shewmake alluded that effort was the determining factor in the win.
“It is really more of an effort standard. We have played some teams where we haven’t pressured as much and put up more points,” Shewmake said.
“It really just depends on how we matchup with an opponent.”
While the Lady Feet were able to consistently put points on the scoreboard, the Lady Lions struggled to even get a shot up.
In the first half, GCA had two made field goals and two made free throws leaving them with a 35-8 deficit at the break.
Webb continued their pressure into the second half, but GCA was able to break through for 13 points in the third quarter.
Ultimately, it was not enough as the Lady Feet coasted to a running-clock victory in the fourth quarter, allowing bench players to get some valuable floor time.
Del Rosario finished with 12 points on the night.
“It gave us a lot of opportunity for younger players to get a lot of experience and it builds trust within our players and staff,” Shewmake said.
“These games are good for growth with your energy and attitude.”
“We play a really tough schedule, but the early games have helped us in these district games.”
