Marie Lane Madeiros, age 90, passed away January 9, 2025, at home under the care of Compassus Hospice Care and her loving family. She was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Shelbyville, to the late John and
Clara Yoes.
Marie was preceded in death by her first husband of 62 years, Omar Lane; daughter, Betty Lane;
brothers, Frank Yoes, Lewis Yoes, and Larry Yoes; and a great grandson, Vincent Montalvo.
She is survived by her husband, J.W. Madeiros; her daughters Dianna (Brent) Haley of Shelbyville, Carol
(Randy) Spray of Bedford, and Angela (Bryan) Boyce of Wheel; a son-in-law James Gray of Murfreesboro;
a stepson Mark Madeiros of Alberta, Canada; and her sister Debbie Taylor of Pulaski.
She was known as Nanny by her many grandchildren, Cliff (Tammy) Trott of Shelbyville; Benjie (Sasha)
Trott of Lynchburg; Hannah Lane Gray of Nashville, Brandy Dunn of Shelbyville; Kara Brooke Spray of
Kansas; Tabitha Paschal and Everette (Nicky) Boyce, both of Wheel; great grandchildren, Jessica McPeak; Hunter
Trott; Hailee Trott; Tori Trott; Cari Leverette; Zach Kelton; Colby Kelton; Darius Young; Brian Young Jr.;
Mezzie Dunn; Vission Montalvo, Anna Barnes, Leah Barnes, Hollie Boyce, Heidi Boyce, Whitney Cawthon, Bryleigh Paschal, Fisher Paschal, Cole Madeiros and Dane Madeiros; and great-great grandchildren, Ryleigh McPeak; Lenox McPeak; Onyx Boyce; Ivy Sons; and soon to be Amelia Trott.
She has also left behind fur babies, Edie Mae and Diesel.
Marie was a member of Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church and was the oldest surviving member. She
taught Sunday School for many years. A multi-talented woman, Marie will be remembered for her creativity, her folk art, her crafts, and the children’s books she wrote and illustrated. Everyone loved her delicious vegetable soup that she made even when she wasn’t feeling well. Her loved ones will keep her recipe going and think of her each time it is made.
She loved living on her farm on the hill with her goats and chickens, her garden, and flowers. She enjoyed keeping up on Facebook and would send Snap Chats to family and friends every day. The most important part of Marie’s life was her family. She was the living embodiment of love, kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. She was the perfect example of being beautiful inside and out.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM Saturday, Jan. 18, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Visitation with the family will start at 11 am and service will begin at 1 pm, conducted by Bro. Doug Dezotell and Bishop Randy Taylor. Memorial contributions can be made to Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
