Pats ride big 1st past Moore Co.

A monster first quarter was more than enough to land the Liberty Patriots a win over visiting Moore County on Thursday night.

The Patriots piled up 25 points in the first frame and coasted to a 43-12 win over the Raiders.

Shots were falling for the Patriots early on, with Mason Shavers tacking on six in the quarter.

Jack Conditt also was effective in the early goings, recording a perfect 7-of-7 tries from the free throw line.

Jacob McGee and Jason Collum both connected on three-pointers in the opening quarter as well.

By the end of the first frame, Liberty led 25-4.

Following the huge first quarter, offensive production ground to a near halt, with Liberty recording just five points in the second quarter.

Still, the Patriots led 30-7 at the half and Liberty went on to outscore the Raiders 12-0 in the third frame.

Conditt led all scorers with 12, while Shavers added nine.

The win over Moore County was the final game of 2020 for Liberty and the Patriots will get a break until January 5 when Liberty travels to Huntland.
