State Sen. Shane Reeves, R-Murfreesboro, officially began his second full term
in the Tennessee Senate on Tuesday as he took the Oath of Office during the recent  opening session of the 114th General Assembly. The ceremony took place in the Senate Chamber in Nashville,
where other newly elected and reelected senators were also sworn in to their new terms. On
Thursday, Reeves was also appointed chairman of the Energy, Agriculture, and Natural
Resources Committee by Lt. Governor McNally.
“I cannot thank the voters of District 14 enough for putting their trust and faith in me," said
Reeves. "As a seventh generation Tennessean, I understand and share the values of my fellow
Tennesseans like faith, family, and freedom. I am dedicated to working hard to protect these
shared values in the Tennessee Senate.”
Lt. Gov. McNally praised Senator Reeves after appointing him as chairman.
“Senator Reeves is an outstanding member of the Senate,” said Lt. Gov. McNally. “He works
hard, listens and is always looking to help others. Having served on the committee he
understands the subject matter and will provide excellent leadership for the committee and
staff. I look forward to great work from Chairman Reeves and his committee.”
Sen. Reeves was re-elected in November to serve another four-year term. First elected to the
Tennessee State Senate in 2018 in a special election, Reeves has served as a Senator for the last
7 years. Senator Reeves also currently serves as the Republican Caucus Chaplain. Beyond his
legislative duties, Reeves is a pharmacist and a small business owner.

A lifelong resident of middle Tennessee, Senator Reeves lives in Murfreesboro with his wife and
three children.
