Two suspects were charged with drug possession Wednesday following a traffic stop by Shelbyville police.
Paul David Hastings Jr., 43, of Davis Lane in Unionville, was stopped by Officer Ramon Castillo for a suspected window tint violation. Police have recently begun sharply increasing traffic stops based on darkly-tinted windows.
Hastings was charged with possession of a schedule 2 drug and paraphernalia when a bag containing 3 grams of methamphetamine, along with a meth pipe, were found in his vehicle, Castillo’s report said. The window tint was checked with a digital device and found to be too dark, according to the report.
Carrie Liang, 23, of Smyrna, a passenger, was charged with simple possession when heroin was allegedly found in her possession.
Bonds were set at $6,500 for Hastings and $3,000 for Liang.
Cameron Steven Scott, 28, of Lynchburg allegedly attempted to push the meth into his truck’s floorboard as Officer Brock Horner watched. Marijuana, a glass pipe, scales and bags were found inside the truck.
Scott was charged with simple possession of schedule 2 and 6 drugs and served with the previous warrant. He was held on $6,500 bond.
Officer Josh Graves’ report said Gagne had a bag of marijuana in a pocket. Gagne was served with previous warrants for fraudulent use of a credit/ATM card, theft of property, and two counts of violation of an order of protection. He was held without bond.
Officer Dylan Bliss stopped the vehicle and was handed a bag containing 1 gram of marijuana, his report said, Wilson was cited and allowed to leave.
Dogs dropped
Two dogs were abandoned Monday afternoon in the trailer park at 2103 North Main St., according to a Shelbyville Police Department report.
A German shepherd mix with red collar and black pit bull puppy with a blue harness were dropped off next to a dumpster, neighbors said.
By the time police arrived a neighbor had moved the dogs into a kennel filled with trash including an open pineapple can and three empty bowls. The kennel smelled of feces, the report said.
A neighbor told police a man and woman in a black single-cab short bed pickup were seen leaving the dogs between 2-5 p.m.
Shelbyville Animal Control was called.
Shoplifting
A Walmart employee was charged with five shoplifting incidents dating back to December, police said.
Vickie L. Claxton, 67, of Midland Road allegedly admitted the offenses, according to the incident report. She was released on $7,500 bond.
