A Sims Road man was found dead of a gunshot wound at his home Sunday night, and investigators say foul play is suspected.
Family members arrived around 11 p.m. to find Thoutha Peter Souphom, 52, in the yard of his residence in the 3300 block of Sims Road, Sheriff Austin Swing said. He had been shot in the head, according to police scanner traffic.
TBI special agents were called into the investigation at the request of 17th District Attorney General Rob Carter.
“The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time,” the TBI said in a press release.
It was a deadly weekend on Sims Road as a man drowned Saturday night in an unreleated incident several miles away, investigators said.
Emmanuel Topps, 41, drowned in a swimming pool at a residence around 11:30 p.m., Sheriff Austin Swing said.

A Shelbyville man drowned in a swimming pool at a Sims Road home late Saturday night, according to the Bedford County Sherifs Office.
The victim was identified as Emmanuel Topps, 41. The drowning occurred around 11:30 p.m., Sheriff Austin Swing said.
