UNIONVILLE — Despite outscoring the Central Magnet Tigers in the second half, the Community Vikings could not recover from a scoring spree by the Tigers in the second quarter as the Vikings fell 61-50 in a basketball contest Thursday night.
Both teams had trouble finding the basket in the opening quarter as the Tigers took an 8-5 lead to the second quarter.
Community (0-6) started to warm up as the Vikings scored 15 points in the quarter, but it was not enough to keep up with the Tigers as Central Magnet got hot from three-point land.
Corey Paterick of the Vikings connected on three treys to pace Community, but Central Magnet used four three-pointers to score 25 points and took a 33-20 lead to halftime.
The Vikings started to get their offense in flow in the third quarter as Jason Cullum led the way with seven points.
Community cut the Tiger lead to six at 39-33 before Central Magnet increased its advantage to 45-36 with one quarter to play.
Cullum scored six points for the Vikings in the quarter, but Community could never get closer than nine as the Tigers closed out the win.
Will Becker scored 20 points to lead Central Magnet.
Cullum led the Vikings with 16 points.
