’Tis the season to give

The Flat Creek community reportedly had a great time hosting Santa at the community center last Saturday! But even the jolly guy in the red suit couldn’t knock the shine off what the community is doing this season for its own.

The community’s Bryant Morton made a presentation at the Dec. 3 community center meeting for a smoked ham fundraiser for Flat Creek’s own, Carol McGee, who is starting chemotherapy.

It was agreed that this benefit meat sale will be Saturday, Dec 17. Purdom’s BBQ and 931 BBQ in Flat Creek will smoke hams for $55 each. The hams can be ordered through Lynchburg Veterinary Hospital, located on Majors Boulevard in Lynchburg.

Those interested may stop in at the clinic or order by phone at 931-759-5550 through Wednesday, Dec. 14. Pick up will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec 17, at the Flat Creek Fire Hall.

“This will bless a family that has blessed so many in our area,” said Roger Debatin, an FCVFD volunteer.

In other Flat Creek news:

Barking Pig BBQ will be cooking during Flat Creek’s regular, Christmas Eve meat sale. Details forthcoming. The Barking Pig BBQ team recently competed and placed seventh during the World Food barbecue competition in Dallas, Texas.
