Stormy, cooler weather expected Sunday

I would suggest you make your weekend plans for Saturday because it appears that will be the best day by far to be outside and involved in activities. Partly sunny skies and a high of 92 Saturday will be followed by showers and thunderstorms on Sunday and only in the upper 70s for the high. I expect we will get back into the mid 80s to low 90s from May 25-June 1.

May can bring the most wide range of extremes in temperatures as any other month. We hit the mid 90s on May 13, 1962 but on May 4, 1976 the temperature dropped to the upper 20s. May 7, 1958 was an amazing day with snow flurries reported in some areas, the latest day that snow flurries have been seen in the spring.

We have two weeks remaining in our tornado season and I see several chances of severe weather during that time. However, straight-line wind and hail will be more likely.
