East Side Elementary fifth grader Brittany Serrano and Maci Lovvorn, a fourth grader at South Side Elementary, were selected to open the recent Bedford County school board meeting. They were recognized for their positive attitudes and academic strides.
Brittany is the daughter of Dora Serrano and is a 5th grader in Julie Hill's class. Brittany was honored for placing first in the district in the Farm Bureau essay contest; her topic was "Why is agriculture important?"
The fifth grader's essay is being sent to the state contest to represent Bedford County.
Maci is the daughter of Rocky and Amanda Lovvorn. Maci's teachers, Taylor Beth Cook and Mrs. Angie Bivvins, were in attendance at the recent board meeting held at Cascade High School.
The fourth grader was recognized for promoting positive school culture and excellence in the classroom.
