A man who allegedly threatened to grab a child from a vehicle was charged with disorderly conduct Thursday.
Witnesses told Shelbyville police Jasper Lucas Pablo, 18, of Center Street approached a couple leaving Chili’s, North Main Street, around 7:30 p.m., and attempted to open a rear door near where a 1-year-old boy was in a car seat.
Lucas had arrived in Shelbyville around a week earlier from Guatemala and does not speak English well, Officer Gary Goodwin’s report said.
The boy’s mother said Lucas sounded like he was saying, “Let me get my boy” or something similar. She punched Pablo’s hand at that point as several Chili’s customers came to her help in response to yells, a Facebook post said.
Pablo, who turned 18 Thursday, was charged with disorderly conduct and held on $2,500 bond.
