Suspect can't get away from officers

A man being chased on foot allegedly tried to enter a passing vehicle to get away Thursday night.

But the vehicle's driver had noticed officers and patrol cars in the area around Goodwill, Lane Parkway - and realized Corie Allan Warner, 22, of Warners Bridge Road, was being pursued. He refused to let Warner in and drove away.

A report of a reckless driver on Warners Bridge Road led to Officer Josh Graves spotting Warner on Lane Parkway. Warner allegedly drove to a North Main Street parking lot and ran away on foot.

Graves said he saw Warner attempt to stop the passing vehicle, then resume running. Warner was ordered to hit the ground by Officer Matt Sharp, but didn't until Sharp put his hand on his gun. At that point Warner was arrested without incident,

Warner was charged with felony evading arrest due to telling Graves he fled due to fear because he knew he was being sought on several outstanding warrants from Bedford and Marshall counties. Charges of resisting stop/frisk/halt, no driver's license, reckless driving, financial responsibility and failure to appear were also filed.

Warner complained of chest pain following the incident. He was treated at Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital, then held on $11,000 bond at Bedford County Jail.

**Thefts

A woman found crying on the sidewalk outside a Lane Parkway convenience store Thursday night told police a man she'd been "hanging with" left with a bag containing all her belongings - clothing, food, and identification cards.

She claimed to not know the man's name but said he lives on Warners Bridge Road and drives a gray Nissan with damage to a passenger side door.

-A wallet and key left on the dashboard of a vehicle at a Maplewood Drive home were stolen early Thursday, police were told. A suspect was named.

**Hit-and-run

The driver of a truck involved in a hit-and-run accident on U.S. 231 north of Shelbyville Wednesday told police she felt "unsafe" at the scene and had planned to notify law enforcement when she reached home - in Lewisburg.

Officer Josh Graves stopped Brittany Lynn Mungovan, 25, on North Main Street after her truck's description was dispatched. A check showed Mungovan's license is revoked for a DUI conviction.

A marijuana e-cigarette and roach were allegedly found as police searched Mungovan's truck during the arrest process.

Mungovan was charged with driving on a revoked license and simple possession and posted $2,000 bond.
