MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Three Middle Tennessee student-athletes were named to the 2025 Conference USA Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team, the league announced this week.
Joel Iheakolam earned his first All-Academic selection, while Juan Lucas and Hailee Gorham each received the honor for the second time, following their recognition during the 2024 cross country season.
Iheakolam, a sophomore public health major, holds a 3.76 GPA. He had a standout outdoor season, placing fifth in the triple jump at the CUSA Outdoor Championships. He claimed first-place finishes at both the Outdoor Music City Challenge and the Tennessee Invitational and was the runner-up at the Yellow Jacket Relays.
Lucas, an aerospace major with a 3.90 GPA, capped his season with a sixth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the CUSA Championships. He also narrowly missed the top 10 in the 1,500 meters. Lucas recorded a personal best of 9:23.61 in the steeplechase at the Yellow Jacket Invitational in Atlanta, earning a third-place finish.
Gorham, who boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA as an aerospace major, rounds out the trio. She has maintained her flawless GPA for consecutive semesters during the 2024–25 academic year. On the track, she ran a personal-best 2:27.69 in the 800 meters at the CUSA Championships in Murfreesboro and finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Yellow Jacket Relays with a personal-best time of 12:19.16.
