After knocking off Forrest in the opening game of the DRVC tournament on Wednesday, the Community Middle Viqueens advanced to the semifinals to face No. 1 seed Eagleville.
Due to COVID-19 related quarantine, the game between Community and Eagleville never took place and the Viqueens were granted a berth in the championship game against MTCS.
In the end, MTCS relied on a strong start and held on for the 48-28 victory over the Viqueens on Thursday night.
MTCS got off to a hot start and got a key six points in the opening quarter from Anna Clay Shirley.
Kylie Dalton accounted for all six of Community's points in the opening quarter.
While Community tacked on a double-digit quarter in the second frame and posted 10 points, MTCS continued its steady offense and added 15 more points.
At the half, MTCS led 31-16.
The game's pace slowed considerably in the second half and neither team reached the double figure mark in the third or fourth quarters.
Still, MTCS posted just enough production to secure the 20-point victory.
Dalton was the top-scorer for the Viqueens with 10 points while Audrina Bearden added six.
Community 6 10 4 8 — 28
MTCS 16 15 9 8 — 48
Community: Kylie Dalton 10, Audrina Bearden 6, Brailey Whitehead 6, Stevie Dickenson 4, Bailey Helton 2.

On Wednesday, the Purple and Gold got just the start it wanted in the DRVC tournament, outlasting host Forrest in the opening round of the tournament, 28-22.
Community comfortably led through the majority of the contest and at one point late in the third quarter, held a double digit lead.
That lead dwindled in the fourth frame, but the Viqueens were able to get a handful of key baskets by Audrina Bearden to help hold off the Lady Rocket rally.
Community doubled up the Lady Rockets in the first quarter and led 6-3.
That lead held for Community as the Viqueens posted a 14-7 lead after the first half.
In the second half, Forrest relied on its ability to get to the line and connected on 9-of-16 tries to cut the Viqueen lead to single digits.
Even with the ability to stop the clock and come up with key shots at the charity stripe, Community was able to hold on for the six-point victory.
Stevie Dickenson led the Viqueens with eight points in the win, while Kylie Dalton added five.

Community 6 8 6 8 — 28
