HUNTLAND — The Community Viqueens were able to overcome a sluggish start on Thursday night at Huntland and escape with a 4-1 District 6-A win.

While the Viqueens played well at times throughout the first half, offense was an absolute struggle and the first half ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

Jemima Ramos gave the Purple and Gold a much-needed shot in the arm with the Viqueens’ first goal early in the second half.

She led Community with a hat trick in the win.

Following Ramos’ first score, the Lady Hornets answered to once again deadlock the score at 1-1.

After Huntland’s score, Ramos responded with a pair of strikes to put the Viqueens up 3-1.

Lexi Molnar added one final score for Community in the final minutes to preserve the unbeaten record for the Viqueens.

Shot selection wasn’t an issue for the Viqueens as they were able to pepper the Huntland goal with 30 shots on goal.

Keeper Kelsea Kupczyk recorded 11 saves in Community’s win.

The goal scored by the Lady Hornets marks the first goal given up in nearly a month by the Viqueens.

Cascade last scored on Huntland during an August 24 match.

The two schools will meet again in another key District 6-A match on Monday at 7 p.m.
