UNIONVILLE, Tenn. – The Community Viqueens (12-2-2, 1-0) responded to a 1-0 loss to Eagleville on Tuesday with a dominant, 14-4 run-rule win after five innings on Thursday.

UNIONVILLE, Tenn. – The Community Viqueens (12-2-2, 1-0) responded to a 1-0 loss to Eagleville on Tuesday with a dominant, 14-4 run-rule win after five innings on Thursday.
Taylor Wessner got the start in the circle, throwing the complete 5.0 innings and giving up just two earned runs on seven hits while striking out three batters on just 62 pitches.
Maddison Davenport started for Eagleville, but the Viqueens’ offense pounced on her almost immediately. Community chased Davenport after just 1.1 innings where she gave up nine runs, eight earned, on eight hits and a walk with no strikeouts on 43 pitches. She also gave up a pair of home runs to Annie Prince and Alana Tate. Ellie Nguyen came on in relief, throwing 2.2 innings and giving up three earned runs on four hits and one walk on 28 pitches.
In all, Community struck out just one time as a team and tallied 15 hits.
For the game, Anna Haskins went 2-4 with a double and scored twice, Mattie Maxey went 1-4 and scored, and Gracie Daniel finished 3-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and one RBI. Tate went a perfect 3-3 with a home run and five total RBI and a walk while Annie Prince went 2-3 with four RBI and a home run.
The Viqueens got going with six runs in the bottom of the first inning. Eagleville scored two in the top of the second in response, but Community kept the offensive avalanche going in the home half, scoring four more runs to take a 10-2 lead going into the third inning.
Neither team scored in the third, but then the Viqueens tacked on two runs in the home half of the fourth to get within run-rule territory. Brinli Bain, who went 3-3 at the plate in the game, was one of two runs to come around and score in the top of the fifth, but then Community scored two more runs to walk off Eagleville to get back to winning ways for the 12th time this season.
The Viqueens are set to return to district play at Chapel Hill on Thursday, April 3rd, with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
