Whitehead’s 32-points Leads Viqueens Past Mt. Pleasant

MT. PLEASANT, Tenn. - The Community Viqueens won in dominating fashion on the road by 65 points against Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers on Friday night, 76-11. 

Community got off to a fast start hitting two three-pointers – one each from Brailey Whitehead and Savannah Pearson – and connecting on 7 of 8 from the free throw line. Alyssa White sank all four of her first quarter free-throw attempts while Brooklyn Yoes added a paid from the charity stripe. The Viqueens’ defense held the Lady Tigers to just one basket and three foul shots. Mattie Maxey played hard hands-on defense by collecting three of her 6 steals for Community and Whitehead added three of her own. By the end of the first buzzer, the Viqueens had a commanding lead of 23-5 and would never lose it.

Lady Tiger Ashley Turner hit the only free throw for Mt. Pleasant to account for all points scored in the second quarter. Maxey swiped her other three steals to lead the Viqueens’ defensive game. Community scored another twenty this period, including five lay ups in the last four minutes before halftime. Whitehead tagged another three-pointer from the left wing to account for three of her 11 total points in the second quarter. Pearson put in four more to press the Viqueens lead even farther by halftime, 43-6. 

The Viqueens extended their massive lead on the scoreboard coming out of the halftime locker room. Whitehead racked up a few more steals and added four more buckets for her eight points in the period while Sara Flannagan rallied for four of her total eight points for the game for Community. Turner again collected the only five points for Mt. Pleasant with a total of nine for the game. At the end of the third the Viqueens led by 50 points, 61-11. 

Community did not let the Lady Tigers score a single point during the fourth quarter, while adding another 15 points to the already massive lead. Pearson and Whitehead both dropped in another three apiece in the period. Whitehead finished the contest with 32 points and 8 steals, Pearson had collected 14 and White added eight points for the win for the Viqueens. The final score was 76-11. 

The Community Viqueens’ next game will be at home on Tuesday January 7th at 6:00pm against Grundy County.
