Feet capture second straight district tournament crown, stop CPA
NASHVILLE — The Webb School locked up its second-straight district tournament title on Saturday, defeating host CPA, 62-50.
Webb was led by the efforts of Mr. Basketball finalist Keon Johnson, who scored 18 points while being named tournament MVP.
Webb led 12-7 early and stretched its lead to 45-27 heading into the final quarter.
CPA wouldn’t go away, however, and utilized a barrage of three-point shots to help pull back into contention.
Of the Lions’ eight made treys, three came in the 23-point fourth quarter.
Braden Zapp connected on four triples to help spur on the offense from the perimeter.
But the effort wasn’t good enough to topple the efforts of Webb’s “big three”.
Jordan Jenkins and JJ Platt joined Johnson in double figures, scoring 17 and 14 points, respectively.
Jenkins also earned All-Tournament recognition as well.
Webb will begin its quest for a second-straight tournament berth on Wednesday, hosting the University School of Nashville at 6:30 p.m.
