“Hurry up, I’m not playing,” an armed robber told a Shelbyville convenience store clerk Tuesday night while holding a gun in her face. “Give me everything.”
The armed robbery at T&M Market, Depot Street, was one of two reported Tuesday afternoon in Shelbyville, police said. Another was reported around 5:30 p.m. at a home on Germantown Road.
Police have identified Godice Clark of Shelbyville as a suspect in both robberies. He has been charged with aggravated robbery and is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
Two men armed with handguns confronted two people putting children in car seats on Germantown Road and demanded the wallet from one before running to a blue Ford Fusion, officers were told.
“The Shelbyville Police Department believes that the victims on Germantown Road were specifically targeted and was NOT chosen at random,” detectives posted on the department’s Facebook page late Wednesday afternoon.
The clerk at T&M Market said one of the men came to the counter at 8:49 p.m., pointed the gun at her face and demanded “all the money.” Another man stood in the doorway, she said. No one else was in the store at the time
Before she could get the cash drawer open, the man demanded she hand over the entire drawer. The clerk did so and the men ran from the store, she said. The blue Fusion was visible in store security video.
“One of the men wore a bandana around his face, only exposing the area around his eyes,” Officer Letisia Diaz’s report said. “She stated she was too afraid to notice anything but that the gunman was wearing red.”
Police had not determined exactly how much was taken in either robbery as of Wednesday morning, Detective Sgt. Sam Jacobs said.
“If you have any information on the known whereabouts of Godice Clark, or any information on either of these two aggravated robberies please contact Det. Nathan Everhart or Det. Lt. Charles Merlo at 931-684-5811,” the department said.
