The Shelbyville Central Golden Eaglettes traveled down to Panama City, Florida, last week to play in the Marlin Christmas Classic, going 2-1. They represented Tennessee, and more specifically this wonderful city of Shelbyville, extremely well, playing three games in three days at a very high level. The Central Boys went 0-2 in Franklin at the Music City Hoopfest held at Page High School. 

Cascade began district play before everyone else this week, hosting Cannon County on Tuesday night. Cannon County won both games: the girls game by a score of 60-41 and the boys game by a score of 71-48. Both games were within single digits in the fourth quarter, but the Lionettes and Lions closed strong like good teams do.

Kaegan Young was second in scoring for the Lady Champions with 11 points despite the extensive defensive pressure by Cannon County all game, and the Lionettes had nobody that could guard her one-on-one. 

Isaac McElroy led the boys in scoring, but it was the return of Saebyn Burris from illness paired with Tucker McGee's seven first quarter points that provided the biggest spark Tuesday and should give Champions' fans optimism moving forward.

District play either begins or has already started this week for all six programs, so be sure to check here every week on Wednesdays, and sometimes even the day after some games, to stay updated on how every team proceeds through the most important portion of their regular seasons.
