Big fourth inning propels Viqueens to comeback win

MURFREESBORO — The Community Viqueens trailed the Central Magnet Lady Tigers 6-5 after three innings before erupting for 13 runs in the fourth inning as the Viqueens defeated the Lady Tigers 18-8 in a softball contest Tuesday.
Community (6-2) used four consecutive hits from Zoey Dixon, Taylar Wesner, Carlie Blanton, and Abi Brown in the opening inning to produce two runs before Central Magnet tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the inning.
After the Lady Tigers went ahead 4-2 with two runs in the bottom of the second, the Viqueens rebounded to take the lead in the top of the third.
Doubles by Wesner, Blanton, and Brown led to three runs as Community took a 5-4 lead.
The Lady Tigers retook the lead 6-5 with two runs in the bottom of the third before Community went to work.
The Viqueens batted around twice in the top of the fourth as the hits kept coming. Community had six hits in the inning, with Blanton and Haley Farrar each connecting on two singles while Dixon and Emma Bentley each added singles.
When the dust had settled, the Viqueens had 13 runs and a 18-6 lead.
Central Magnet added single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to close out the scoring.
Blanton had four hits and Dixon added three to lead the Viqueens.
Bentley started on the mound for the Viqueens with Wesner and Farrar in relief.
Community will once again be traveling to Murfreesboro to play several games in the Warrior Classic.
