Warrants have been filed against a driver accused of leading officers on a high-speed chase through northwestern Shelbyville on Monday night.

Officer Dylan Bliss's report said he confirmed the suspect as Tad J. Reynolds, 29, of Helton Road, who has been charged with two counts each of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment and one count of evading arrest.

"He has a history of evading arrest," the report said.

Reynolds was reported as "doing burnouts" in the Walmart parking lot. He allegedly was stationary when officers arrived but refused to identify himself.

"Once I realized he wasn't going to cooperate, I opened the driver's door and asked him to step out of the vehicle," Bliss said.

Reynolds allegedly started his truck and sped away when Bliss, who had grabbed his shirt, and Officer Darrian Lanier attempted to pull him out. Bliss said he and Lanier were almost struck and Lanier was almost pinned against a vehicle.

Bliss, Lanier, Sgt. Tory Moore and Officer Bryan Lashwood said they pursued Reynolds through a series of side streets and parking lots at speeds up to 75 miles per hour until terminating at the Warners Bridge Road-Pass Road intersection after a dispatcher was able to confirm his identity. Reynolds was apprehended Tuesday.

**Assault charges

Alleged attacks over several days against a Bedford County woman led to the arrest of Chavis Marshall Woodall, 34, of Hopkins Bridge Road on aggravated assault and assault charges Monday.

Woodall was arrested at his home after his mother convinced him to surrender following more than two hours' worth of unsuccessful requests by Bedford County deputies.

The victim suffered a busted lip, her eyes and neck were swollen and multiple bruises were visible, Deputy William Featherstone's report said. Woodall allegedly denied the assaults and told Featherstone she had injured herself.
