More than 3 inches of rain fell in a short time over northern Shelbyville on Sunday afternoon, leaving roads flooded and homes surrounded by water deeper than anyone had seen in memory, if ever.
High water inundated portions of northern Shelbyville as an intense thunderstorm struck late that afternoon. The National Weather Service said, and unofficial home weather stations indicated, 3 to 4 inches of rain fell in less than an hour. No official flash flood warning was issued for Bedford County.
