Funeral services for Douglas Madison “Doug” Williams, age 78 of Lewisburg, TN will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022, in the Chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Reverend Timothy Holton officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Doug passed from this life Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Carriage House after an extended illness.
Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 21, at London Funeral Home in Lewisburg and beginning 11 a.m. Saturday, October 22, at Doak-Howell Funeral Home.
Born December 27, 1943, in Shelbyville, Doug was the son of the late Lawrence D. and Ettie Elliott Williams. Growing up on a dairy farm Doug was no stranger to hard work and continued farming in his spare time throughout his life. He was a graduate of SCHS class of 1962 and served his community with the Bedford County Fire Department for three years followed by a 30-year career with Shelbyville City Fire Department, before retiring in 2000. He was also a truck driver, having worked with Goggin and Cartwright Trucking for many years. Doug had many talents, being a jack of all trades; wood working was his favorite. He was a member of Berlin United Methodist Church.
He was very much loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carol McKenzie Williams of Lewisburg; daughters, Vonda Grey of Shelbyville and Andrea Christine (Greg) Sandlin of Tullahoma; granddaughters, Olivia and Elise Sandlin; brother, Tom (Peggy) Williams of California; sister, Mary Ann (Robert) Carlton of Murfreesboro; sister-in-law, Gina McKenzie of Lewisburg; along with several nieces and nephews.
