The Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles picked up their second district win in their last three games on Tuesday, blowing out the visiting Spring Hill Raiders, 75-41, on Senior Night inside Rick Insell Gymnasium.
This game was never in doubt for Shelbyville with the hosts jumping out to a 20-5 lead after the end of the opening period of play behind Kyler Trice, who scored 10 of his game-high 22 points in the first eight minutes.
The Golden Eagles would continue their strong play in the second quarter as well, going into the halftime locker room with a commanding 40-14 lead over the visitors. Trice hit all four of his three-pointers in the first half, including two in the second quarter, to pace Shelbyville with 16 points at the break.
Shelbyville would only continue to build on their massive lead in the third quarter, ending the period with a 35-point lead, 65-30.
The Golden Eagles would empty the bench in the fourth quarter, managing to exact revenge emphatically from their road loss at Spring Hill earlier this season.
Spring Hill was led by Javin Cecil with eight points as the Golden Eagles defense kept the visiting Raiders without a single double-digit scorer all night.
Shelbyville was led by the aforementioned Trice with a game-high 22 points. Tae’ Shawn Shelton bounced back from the rough outing against Columbia with 12 points of his own as well.
Spring Hill falls to 2-18 (2-7) and returns home for their own Senior Night against Coffee County on Friday to wrap up district play.
Shelbyville improves to 6-19 (2-7) and is set to wrap up district play on Friday in a rematch on the road against Columbia Central, LIVE on WLIJ 98.7 and AM 1580 starting at 5:45 p.m.
